School Counselor

Mrs. Gio Franco - Diaz

Hello!

My name is Mrs. Gio (Giovanny) Franco-Diaz, and I am the School Counselor.  I was born in Peru, but have been drawn to Colorado since my family moved to the USA.  I received my MA in Counseling and Human Services with an emphasis in School Counseling from UCCS. I love working with children, especially little kiddos, because I am very passionate about prevention and early intervention strategies to help them grow.  My favorite hobbies include camping, hiking, and dancing while listening to music.

As a School Counselor, my services are aligned with ASCA (American School Counselor Association) standards and practices model.  My mission is to provide a comprehensive social-emotional learning curriculum that will encourage academic, social-emotional intelligence, and college-career awareness through a creative approach.  I also provide individual, and small group counseling, crisis prevention, and interventions.  I believe in the power of “YET”, the belief in one's self or another person's ability to realize some things are worth waiting for and those things take work; I am excited to be working with you, your children, and the staff at Carver Elementary School. Please don't hesitate to call me or email me if you have any questions or concerns. We are all in this together!

Professional School Counselors serve students on a short-term basis within the school setting. We refer to our community resources for more intensive, on-going supports.
